Good morning! Sorry I’ve been MIA; went on a quick weekend getaway west to Asheville, NC to visit some friends. We arrived Saturday afternoon with just enough time to watch the sun go down. Our friend G who we were visiting works at this incredible hotel, Grove Park Inn. She took us there to watch the sunset over some red wine and cheese-it was heavenly. What I really enjoyed-aside from the great company and food was the hotel itself. Built in 1912, it had so much to offer with its stone facade, art-deco style roof, mammoth fireplace, and unique Christmas decor.
If you’ve ever been to the Mount Washington Resort, Bretton Woods NH, Grove Park has a very similar vibe. The views and grounds are stunning and it has a really authentic, romantic feel. The fireplace had about 20 people surrounding it, rocking back and forth in old rocking chairs. If I had to guesstimate, the fireplace had to have been at least the size of 10 regular sized fireplaces-it was a monster! Grove Park puts on quite the holiday festivities with their annual Gingerbread House Competition and gorgeous Christmas trees.
Their gingerbread competition took place this past weekend and the houses will be on display from November 20, 2012, through January 2, 2013. Since me and my family have a thing for peacocks, I was all the more impressed with the hotel when we walked into this tree!
If you’re ever in the area be sure to check out Grove Park-it truly has something for everyone. The Mr. and I are considering spending our 2nd wedding anniversary there in February and indulging in their unbelievable spa. How great is this, if you purchase any spa service you automatically get access to the spa facilities for the entire day and that is quote the package deal given the privacy, relaxation, and gorgeous grounds and amenities The Spa at Grove Park offers.
Have you been to Grove Park? We cannot wait to go back and explore more of Asheville and the land out West!
Hope you all had a great weekend! Cheers, Karla xoxo
